The Capitalist Constitution: (Special Addendum to the U.S. Constitution, For Private Circulation Only) ARTICLE I : SOCIETY AND POLITICS Section 1. You have a right to lie, steal, cheat, intimidate, and murder in order to accumulate wealth and power. Section 2. You have a right to punish dissenters. This includes a right to punish moral persons and frame the innocent if they make moral objections to or expose any of your actions above, and may occur outside the law if you keep your activities from public view. What is important is not following the law all the time, but getting your desires satisfied. Section 3. You have a right to fool the general public about your true intentions and activities. You also have a right to fool the military when you desire, using ridiculous slogans like “honor” and “duty to country” to mislead them. As you know, but most of the military do not, much of what “honor“ really means is to do whatever you say is honorable, and much of what “duty to country” means is duty to you. This ruse is necessary since the military, and others in uniform, do not share many of your values. Many intellectuals do not share your values either and must continually be bought off. You may employ ruses and money power as frequently as necessary since your true numbers are small and many of your values not representative of the population at large. Section 4. You have a right to be the party of the masses and give them some rights and benefits as long as they remain confined to subordinate employee status. This will allow you to present the appearance of being progressive while ensuring you retain political and economic power. Section 5. You have a right to smile, talk reasonably, use the language of religion, and present a human front even though you exercise the rights mentioned in these Articles. You have a right to talk like moralists while you commit immoral deeds. You may publicize your nation as a nation of high moral stature in this context. Section 6. You have a right to prevent the general public from learning much about ideas and information you do not like and to prevent third party programs and candidates from becoming well known through your control of finance and the mass media. Section 7. You have a right to preach equality and democracy while placing only your own people in as many key positions as possible in the social structure, including the media, economy, education, religious organizations, government, and any other organization of significance. This private structure will represent most of the real power in society.
ARTICLE II : ECONOMY Section 1. You have a right to ignore men, women and children if they do not have enough food to eat, decent shelter, medical care, adequate clothing or education while you eat at a good table, dress well, live in opulent housing, receive the best medical care, and send your children to the best schools. You may modify the use of this right over time if required but should give no more to the poor or general public than is absolutely necessary at any given time in order to protect your power, right to live in luxury, and access to all amenities. Section 2. You have a right to all profits of any larger enterprise regardless of the work others put in, though you may if necessary distribute some profits to others to preserve the illusion of fairness. Section 3. You have a right to fire people at will regardless of what happens to them afterwards. You are under no social obligation to ensure people have work but may institute laws requiring that the only obligation of a corporation is create profit. Section 4. You have a right to ship jobs offshore without verifying local jobs are replaced and living standards maintained, even if there is no real economic need except your own to export work. Section 5. You have a right to increase your wealth without limit regardless whether the wealth of the general society remains static or decreases and may ensure average purchasing power follows the same dynamics through your dominant influence over wages, inflation, debt, and job availability. Section 6. You have a right to maintain personal control over the most essential and profitable sections of the economy. Section 7. You have a right to use the labor and resources of an area, either domestic or foreign, for the primary purpose of making yourself wealthy. Section 8. You have a right to create open borders for goods, services and markets and promote your free market theory. You have a right to create open borders for labor as well and, via mass migration, to create a global labor pool that you may drawn on as you wish, regardless of local or national economic prosperity, public opinion, or cultures. Section 9. You have a right to wage war for private gain, markets, submissive allies, and the reconstruction of other nations when they follow ideas different from yours or oppose your economic aggression. You may manufacture crises and provoke others into war if necessary to achieve these ends.
ARTICLE III : CULTURE Section 1. You have a right to spread distasteful literature, films, music and art among your culture or other cultures regardless of how refined or elevated that culture may be. Section 2. You have a right to present entertainment as culture and thereby deprive peoples of the right of expressing their deeper values and higher aspirations. You may substitute mass entertainment for inherited cultural legacies and you may impose your culture on other cultures. Section 3. You have a right to undermine people’s deeper values and higher aspirations and may limit them to lower cultural genre. This includes promoting radical pleasure-seeking and unlimited greed among the general public. It also includes relativizing moral and spiritual values to give the impression they are irrelevant, idiosyncratic, no better than the values you promote, outmoded, or humorous. For Select Persons in Business, the Media, Education, and Government Only. Not for distribution to the general public since if Americans knew your true colors you would lose legitimacy. Dedicated to all those the world over who have suffered at the hands of capitalists in America and elsewhere and to the U.S. soldiers who are being framed for the torture and abuse of Iraqi prisoners.
